Steven C. Poletti MD

Orthopedic Spine Surgeon and co-founder of the Southeastern Spine Institute with 30+ years in spine medicine. He has been instrumental in building SSI into the largest spine-only practice in South Carolina.

Dr. Poletti graduated with honors from the University of California Medical School in 1985. He then completed an internship and residency in General, Thoracic & Orthopedic Surgery at Duke University Medical Center, serving as Chief Resident in Orthopedic Surgery in 1991, followed by a spine fellowship under Dr. David Selby (founder of NASS).

Board certified in Orthopedic Surgery since 1994 (certified by the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons). He has served as President of the South Carolina Spine Society and the South Carolina Orthopedic Association.

Pioneering advanced spine surgery techniques – he performed South Carolina's first micro-endoscopic discectomy and first artificial disc replacement. Dr. Poletti focuses on minimally invasive spine surgery and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, having co-developed a percutaneous spine fixation system and continually working with research companies to bring new advancements to spine care.
