About Dr. Nobles

Specialty

Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Specialist. He is an integral member of SSI's Pain Management Department. Prior to joining SSI, Dr. Nobles was an Assistant Professor in the Pain Management division at MUSC for four years, where he treated complex chronic pain cases and taught upcoming physicians.

Education & Training

Dr. Nobles earned a B.A. from Presbyterian College in Clinton, SC, where he graduated with Valedictory honors, and then obtained his M.D. from the Medical University of South Carolina. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at MUSC, during which he received the Resident Research Award, and subsequently pursued a fellowship in Pain Medicine at Emory University in 2013.

Board Certification

Board Certified in Anesthesiology and in Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Professional Interests

Dr. Nobles has particular expertise in neuromodulation for pain control, including spinal cord stimulation and dorsal root ganglion (DRG) stimulation as innovative treatments for chronic pain. He also specializes in a full spectrum of interventional pain therapies, such as epidural and facet injections, and maintains expertise in safe opioid management when necessary. He has authored book chapters and research articles on topics like opioid prescribing practices and complex cases involving spinal cord stimulators. Additionally, he actively educates other physicians at national conferences on advanced pain procedures. Dr. Nobles' professional memberships include the Pain Society of the Carolinas (where he serves on the board), the North American Neuromodulation Society, and others dedicated to pain medicine, underscoring his leadership in the field.
