German Levin MD

Physiatrist (Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation) specializing in interventional spine care. As a conservative care physician at SSI, Dr. Levin focuses on non-surgical management of spinal disorders, including rehabilitation and image-guided spine injections. He has extensive experience in musculoskeletal medicine, having practiced interventional spine and EMG medicine at spine centers in Tennessee and New England before joining SSI in 2015.

Dr. Levin received his medical degree from Krasnoyarsk State Medical Academy in Russia (1987–1993). After relocating to the U.S., he completed an internship at the University of Missouri–Columbia in 2000–2001. He then specialized in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) with a residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston (2001–2004). As part of his training, he completed an Interventional Physiatry fellowship at the Southeastern Spine Institute from 2003–2004, focusing on non-surgical spine care and pain management techniques.

Board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (Diplomate of the ABPM&R) and certified by the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians. These certifications denote his expertise in both the general rehabilitation of patients and in interventional pain management techniques.

Dr. Levin's interests lie in non-operative treatment of spine conditions and interventional pain relief procedures. He is skilled in therapies such as epidural steroid injections, nerve blocks, and electromyography (EMG) for diagnosing nerve injuries. He has presented research on cervical epidural injection efficacy and non-operative management of cervical radiculopathy at national PM&R conferences, reflecting his commitment to improving conservative treatments for neck and back pain. He is also fluent in Russian and English, which is valuable for patient communication.
