Benjamin A. Schell MD

Orthopedic Spine Surgeon with expertise in complex spinal reconstruction and minimally invasive spine surgery. His fellowship focused on complex spine cases and cutting-edge minimally invasive techniques, and he also gained experience in pediatric orthopedic spine care during a rotation at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children.

Dr. Schell received his undergraduate degree from the University of Kentucky (B.A. in Kinesiology, cum laude, 2007). He went on to earn an M.S. in Physiology & Biophysics (2008) and his M.D. in 2014 from the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He then completed an Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (2014–2019), where he served as Administrative Chief Resident in his final year. Following residency, Dr. Schell pursued advanced training with a fellowship in Complex and Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery at the Swedish Medical Center in Seattle (2019–2020).

Board certified in Orthopedic Surgery (American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, passed Part II in Sept 2022).

Dr. Schell's professional focus includes advanced minimally invasive spine surgery and the management of complex spinal deformities. He has a strong interest in new surgical technologies and techniques that reduce patient recovery time while effectively treating conditions like scoliosis, spinal stenosis, and degenerative disc disease. His training under renowned spine surgeons (e.g., Dr. Jens Chapman in Seattle) underscores his dedication to employing the latest evidence-based approaches in spine care.
